Introduction to
304 steel is a very common stainless steel, also known as 18/8 stainless steel in the industry. Its corrosion resistance is better than 430 stainless steel, but the price is cheaper than 316 stainless steel, so it is widely used in life, such as: some high-grade stainless steel tableware, outdoor stainless steel railings, etc. Although 304 steel is very common in China, the name "304 steel" comes from the United States. Many people think that 304 steel is a model name in Japan, but strictly speaking, the official name of 304 steel in Japan is "SUS304". 304 steel is a kind of universal stainless steel, which is widely used in the production of equipment and parts requiring good comprehensive performance (corrosion resistance and formability). To maintain the corrosion resistance inherent in stainless steel, the steel must contain more than 16% chromium and more than 8% nickel content. 304 stainless steel is a brand of stainless steel produced in accordance with the American ASTM standard. 304 is equivalent to 0Cr18Ni9 stainless steel in our country.
Chemical Composition
The chemical grade of 304 steel is 06Cr19Ni10 (old grade -0Cr18Ni9) containing 19% chromium and 8-10% nickel.

Standard of
For 304 steel is a very important parameter, directly determines its corrosion resistance, but also determines its value. The most important elements in 304 steel are Ni and Cr, but not limited to these two elements. Specific requirements are specified by product standards. The common judgment of the industry believes that as long as the Ni content is greater than 8%, Cr content is greater than 18%, it can be considered 304 steel. This is why the industry calls this type of stainless steel 18/8 stainless steel. In fact, the relevant product standards for 304 steel have very clear provisions, and these product standards for different shapes of stainless steel and there are some differences.
